  • Probe-Style Alarm Thermometer
  • Ultra simple to use - only 2 buttons
  • Uses Pro-Series temperature probes
  • Probe cable survives 700°F
  • Big digits are seen from a distance
  • Splash-proof, commercial durability
DOT is engineered to do one thing really well. Set your target temperature with the up or down buttons, insert the probe in your food, and DOT beeps when it gets there. Simple as that. Hit any button and the beeping stops. The display still flashes till your temperature drops below the setpoint. DOT uses any of the Pro-Series probes designed for our popular ChefAlarm. The included 4.5-inch probe reads temperatures up to 572°F with a cable that withstands 700°F. Designed for commercial food service, DOT beats houseware brands for intuitive usability and survivability.

  • Only two buttons to learn - Up and Down! No complicated programming, no flashing piggies, chickens or cows. Made for people who know what they're doing in the kitchen and who don't want to get bogged down in gadgetry or hemmed-in by someone else's "pre-programmed doneness". Set your own temperatures, faster than anything out there. When the alarm sounds, if you want you can add a few degrees just by tapping the Up button.

Use DOT for Sous Vide, roasting, baking, smoking, breads, pastries, candy making, home brewing and lots more. The included 4" probe can be used for hundreds of things but versatility is expanded by four optional Pro-Series probes. If you're international or uber-scientific, change from Fahrenheit to Celsius using the On/Off button on the rear.

DOT is a professional tool designed for commercial use. Molded-in, splash-proof seals and commercial grade plastic body survive messy kitchen hands. Includes a tilt-out stand for counter use and strong magnets for metal surfaces. Pro-Series probes last much longer than houseware probes.

    What is an IP Rating?

An IP rating, also known as "International Protection" or "Ingress Protection" rating, is a value assigned to a product that determines its susceptibility to ingress from solids and liquids. The first numeric digit relates to the level of protection against solid objects, and the second numeric digit indicates the level of protection against liquid ingress. Click for a table of IP Rating values.

IP65 - No ingress of dust (6); Protection from water ingress: Low pressure jets of water (5).

Simple and Accurate!
Love how simple and easy to use this alarm is. Use the buttons to set your target temp up or down, plug in the probe, and wait for the alarm to sound... that's it! The quality of the alarm and probe is much better than what you find with brands in retail stores, it's very durable and much more accurate than others. I especially enjoy that it has both a kickstand and a magnet on the back, so there are a few options for keeping an eye on it. Really a great product.

I actually have a question, if anyone can answer. Can this item be used as an instant reading? Thank s much.

Response from ThermoWorks
That's a great question. While you can take a reading with a DOT, we recommend that you use a device that is meant for instant readings, such as a Thermapen or a ThermoPop. This is especially important when you are using high-heat methods, such as when you are grilling, as flare-ups can easily exceed 1000°F. The DOT is best suited for "low-and-slow" cooks, such as when you roast or smoke meat.

Alarm Issue
Worked fine, but now i am having alarm issues. Is there a reason why my alarm is "on", but not ringing? It blinks when it reaches temp, but wont make any noise.

Outdoor Use
I bought several DOTs for use with my BGE smoker/grill. I am pleased with the accuracy of the device but not with the readability. When used outdoors in bright and/or direct sunlight, all the segments in the display begin to illuminate and eventually the display turns all black, rendering it useless. Bringing it back inside eventually restores it to operational use. It is very frustrating to have to cover up the DOT because then you can not see it. Plenty of technology exists to make LCDs readable in direct sunlight.

Response from ThermoWorks
This is a common challenge with LCDs. When an LCD is in direct sunlight, it absorbs heat faster than its housing. This causes the liquid crystals in the display to warp. We recommend that you turn the LCD display away from the sun if you need to keep it outside during the day for long periods of time. It's generally best to keep electronics in the shade whenever you can.

I have 3 DOTs for use on my grill, and can't imagine cooking without them. Sometimes I just stick a probe in each of 3 steaks, set the alarms to 132, and kick back. If I'm doing a roast, I'll stick a probe in each end and move the roast around to the hot and cold spots on the grill during the cook to get a perfectly even cook by monitoring the readings on the DOTs. This has enabled me to get roasts that are not only cooked to a perfect medium-rare, but are medium rare from one end to the other, even when one end is much thicker than the other!!! No more "Oh sorry, you got the thin well-done end." The DOT is a great tool, even better if you have a few of them and experiment with how to use them in creative ways.

I absolutely love the Dot !!! This little device has led to a total paradigm shift in my grilling methods. I used to poke at the meat with thermometers, leaving holes and lost juices and still imperfect steaks. Then I got a Dot and all my steaks became perfectly done. I soon took it to the next level: more dots, one for each steak, chicken breast, etc. Now, I can get EVERY SINGLE piece of meat on the grill to EXACTLY the same target temperature AT THE SAME TIME by putting a probe in each piece, leaving a burner off to create a cool zone, and moving meat around between zones while monitoring the dots. I can also put a probe in each end of a roast or an oddly shaped cut of meat (like a tri tip) or roast-like thing with a thin end (pork loin) and, with the same hot/cold zone setup, get any shaped or size piece of meat to be a uniform temperature / doneness from end to end. The Dot is magical.

This thermometer works as advertised. Set the temperature, plug it into your meat, alarm goes off. Best addition to my grill in years.

Thermoworks Dot
Excellent temp monitor! Can't get any easier to use than this. I bought 2. One for Smoker temp (bought the air temp probe) and one for meat temp. I've used them both on about 8 or 10 cooks so far and they have both worked flawlessly. You need this!

Just what my kamodo cooker needed
Super-impressed with the Dot. Dead simple to use, reliable and showed me just how far off the dome temp gauge on my cooker was!

Easy to use (even without reading directions). Absolutely perfect for low and slow smoking. Set it for a max temp and relax knowing Dot is always watching.

Excellent thermometer
I bought the Dot thermometer from another online vender but when I decided I wanted another one I went looking for an alternative due to the relative high shipping costs they charged. I found Thermoworks, discovered they made this wonderful thermometer and stood behind it and charged less for shipping and I was sold. I received my thermometer (in yellow!) and probe brackets (something I never have found anywhere else for this type of thermometer) today and I am quite pleased. The Dot is easy to use with one function, recording and sounding an alarm when the set temperature is reached. IF you want a timer or more bells and whistles this isn't the one for you. BUT if you want a really good, really versatile kitchen thermometer with a wide temperature range that you can get probes for various purposes (sous vide, frying) then this is the one. This is my 5th thermometer of this type and, assuming it holds up, I couldn't be happier.
