Cool Links

If you’re interested in temperature measurement, these are a few other sites that we think are worth a look.

www.temperatures.com
A site aimed at helping people find and learn about temperature sensors so they can make competent temperature measurements and educated purchases. This site is geared toward the student, scientist, engineer and technologist alike.

National Turkey Federation
Make sure your bird is done right this year. Here are the recommendations for turkey temperature measurement.

www.temperatureworld.com
If you want to learn about heat and thermometry, this is a great site. Lots of articles and educational stuff. Plenty of scientific info and many links to related sites.

www.fda.gov
Food and Drug Administration. Good resource for food, medical and pharmaceutical safety with plenty of links to some pretty interesting stuff. Go here to find the Federal Food Code.

www.fsis.usda.gov
This is the Food Safety and Inspection Service in Washington, D.C. Gobs of stuff for the commercial food industry as well as consumers. Find HACCP information and publications on safe food handling. This is a mission-driven bunch of people.

www.fsis.usda.gov/thermy
Thermy says, “It’s Safe to Bite When The Temperature is Right!” Thermy is a little cartoon thermometer that leads a national consumer education campaign designed to promote the use of food thermometers. This is a great site for home cooks, educators and kids.

www.foodsafety.gov
Another government website focused on food safety! This one is a good portal to many interesting bits on other government sites. Good info on food temperatures, salmonella, raw meat and poultry handling, and other pertinent material including the recently added topic of homeland defense and protection of the food supply.

www.etiltd.co.uk
Electronic Temperature Instruments is one of our main partners. They are located in Worthing, England. That’s south of London, right next to Brighton. We work closely with ETI to supply products designed for the U.S. market. ETI is a family-owned company with about 100 cheerful employees – all with great accents. We think they’re great.

www.nist.gov
This is the National Institute of Standards and Technology outside of Washington in Gaithersburg, Maryland. These people are responsible for maintaining the temperature standards for the nation. All of our calibrations are traceable to standards kept at NIST. Their website is very informational and you’ll get some insight into what we must do to supply you with accurate thermometers.

www.hartscientific.com
These people manufacture the world’s most accurate temperature measurement equipment. It’s so good it’s used mainly to calibrate other sensors and thermometers. They’re the best at what they do and their site is filled with great practical info not only on their products but on the general topic of temperature calibration. Our lab is fully equipped with Hart stuff.
