We use the same Type K Thermocouple technology employed in various probe designs to give you special-purpose Thermapens for surface, air, liquid and tougher penetration applications. Although not quite as speedy as the Super-Fast model, these Thermapens are still much quicker than other pocket thermometers, requiring only 8 to 10 seconds to come to a full reading.

each, these special-purpose Thermapens are about the same price that many competitors charge for a handheld probe alone – without a meter! The Thermapen is essentially a Digital handheld temperature probe – self-contained – with no cables. The digital display is in your probe handle, not in a separate box at the end of a clumsy cable. When you’re done with your measurements, this probe folds into the handle for safe and compact storage. Many customers buy one for each purpose.
Standard Thermapen
Pointed probe for general-purpose penetration use. Probe tip is more durable than the smaller diameter Super-Fast probe tip. It lasts longer in tougher applications. Use the Standard Penetration Model for semi-solids like large blocks of cheese, semi-frozen products, soils, meats with bone, etc… 8 sec response time in ice water.

Air Thermapen
We use a small gauge, bare-wire thermocouple shielded by a ventilated stainless steel shaft. Get extremely fast speed while protecting the thermocouple from radiated heat for a true air or gas temperature. 3-4 sec response time in moving air.
