  • The ChefAlarm professional oven thermometer has been Rated #1 by a leading Cook's Magazine. Designed for commercial use, ChefAlarm delivers features not found in "houseware" cooking alarms. Continuous Min/Max display tells you how hot (or cold) your food got when you weren't looking. A "High Alarm" sounds when your food reaches your setting, and a first-of-its-kind "Low Alarm" is perfect for making yogurt and other cold dishes. Adjustable alarm volume can be heard in a noisy restaurant kitchen. The main temperature digits are big and easy-to-see from a distance. Touch the backlight button to read the display in the dark. New from the factory, ChefAlarm reads within ±2°F so you should never need a calibration adjustment but the CAL feature can be used for fine-tuning your accuracy to better than ±1°F. Fold ChefAlarm flat and use the magnetic back on a metal surface or tilt the display up and use it on a counter. Only ThermoWorks offers the new Pro-Series Temperature Probes. Built for robust commercial use, they are more accurate, faster and more moisture-resistant than any other alarm probes. ChefAlarm comes with one Pro-Series High Temp Cooking Probe that measures to 572°F with a cable that withstands 700°F short term exposure. Coupled with a molded transition to the SS tube, this probe survives commercial cooking use longer than consumer probes. Replacements are still affordable. Every kitchen should have at least one ChefAlarm.

    Pro-Series® Probes

Exclusive to Smoke, ChefAlarm® and DOT®, Pro-Series temperature probes are built to last in commercial kitchens. The included Pro-Series High Temp Cooking Probe measures to 572°F with a cable max temp to 700°F for short term exposure. This is the highest rated probe of its class. Probes store away in the included padded case for storage. Pro-Series probes do not operate with other products, only Smoke, ChefAlarm and DOT.

    Continuous Min/Max

ChefAlarm’s info-packed display continuously shows the highest and lowest temperatures reached since you turned it on (or reset the memory). Extremely useful for at-a-glance reminders of your starting temperature. Use it to track how high your food got after an alarm. For example, during “resting”, see what temperature your meat reached from carry-over heat. Or when outdoor grilling in cold weather, meat often drops in temperature when it is turned. ChefAlarm remembers how hot it actually got, even when the Current Temp shows a lower reading. This one feature gives you crucial information to improve your culinary results!

    Both High and Low Alarms

Other probe-style alarms only give you a high alarm, rendering them useless for yogurt making, desserts, or any chilled techniques. ChefAlarm alerts you when something has reached the low temperature you’ve set, as well as the high temperature. Several commercial food chains use ChefAlarm to monitor holding temperatures so food in a prep or buffet line is kept at optimum serving temperatures for best quality and food safety.

    Count-Down/Count-Up Timer

Not rocket science, but very handy. Set ChefAlarm to alarm when time is up. It counts elapsed time after the alarm sounds. Or, use it to time an event, just as you would a stop-watch. Settable in increments of minutes and hours.

    Calibration Adjust

This is the only cooking alarm on the market that allows a calibration adjustment. New from the factory, your ChefAlarm will read within ±2°F even after changing probes (up to 248°F). So, in most cases, you should never really need to use the CAL feature. However, you can fine-tune the calibration for accuracy better than ±1°F with a specific probe. The CAL function allows adjustment of the reading at a single temperature. The readings will then be “offset” by the adjusted amount across the whole range of the thermometer. This “fine tuning” makes ChefAlarm the ideal tool for cooking sugars where knowing transition temperatures requires precision to one degree.

    What is an IP Rating?

An IP rating, also known as "International Protection" or "Ingress Protection" rating, is a value assigned to a product that determines its susceptibility to ingress from solids and liquids. The first numeric digit relates to the level of protection against solid objects, and the second numeric digit indicates the level of protection against liquid ingress. Click for a table of IP Rating values.

IP65 - No ingress of dust (6); Protection from water ingress: Low pressure jets of water (5).

The Mealsaver
This product saved my roast on the first use! In the past, getting roasts perfect was a guess. Living at 5 thousand feet, the time-only method was getting me under/over done meat with no consistency. The ChefAlarm eliminated the guesswork right out of the box; first time, every time. The ChefAlarm, along with my Thermapen, makes perfect meals a snap. I don't have to "hover" over the cooking for hours. The ChefAlarm makes it a "set it and forget it" experience allowing me more time to enjoy my family and guests. It is truly a meal saver!

Versitile for Your Grill or Oven
I've had the CHEFALARM for over two years now. It has been one of the best purchases, next to my new grill. It allows me to replicate doneness on more expensive cuts of meat on the grill and ensures chicken, pork, etc. can be cooked to the proper temp without getting dried out.

It is also a lifesaver in the oven for the same reasons. No more guessing or opening the oven multiple times to take a temp. Just set the alarm and wait.

The one con for my unit appears to have been addressed with the newer probes. I am replacing my original due to, what I assume is, a wire break at the strain point near the plug. The newer probes appear to have a more robust strain relief on the cable.

I've purchased many of these as gifts as well. It is an excellent product at a great price too.

1 of many great products!
As with any ThermoWorks product, the ChefAlarm works really well. I have used mine in the restaurant and in competitions. Always preforms perfect and as it should. We put these products to the test of everyday use and we are very pleased. This is a great company to do business with.

Great and reliable product
I've been smoking meat for about 12 years now. Let me just say that most of the meat thermometers I have tried out over the years turned out to be junk. They would almost always break after just a few uses. Most of my "smoker" friends have had the same experience. In all fairness, I wasn't putting in the time to review the products I was buying beforehand. Rather, I was trusting stores to carry reliable products. Lesson learned.

The ChefAlarm came very highly rated and deservedly so. I purchased mine two years ago and have no problems with it whatsoever. It gives a very fast temperature reading and can handle plenty of heat. The alarm can get very loud. The magnet on the back side is strong. There's really not much more to say. It does what it's supposed to do and lasts! If you are looking for a good and reliable digital food thermometer, I would strongly recommend the ChefAlarm!

Super Happy with Chef Alarm
I bought this Chef Alarm 6 mo. ago to replace a different companies probe/display that went kaput. I heard about ThermoWorks and figured I wanted the best PLUS the ability to replace a probe in the future should I need to. That's why I had to throw out my old one from another company. Nobody but ThermoWorks will sell you a new probe! From all the reviews I knew I was getting the "Cadillac" of brands and was willing to make the investment. I am SO happy I did. I haven't even scratched the surface of what the Chef Alarm can do. I bought the ThermoPop for grilling and I've used the Chef Alarm for all my oven cooking and other temp probe needs. Great display, love the clip for using it as candy therm. and it even came with a handy chart with temps for various functions. Can't say enough good things about my Chef Alarm. I have a handy kitchen tool for life. Thanks ThermoWorks!!!
Awesome
The only thing better than the ChefAlarm is the customer service. I am a customer for life!

Outstanding!!
I've been grilling for quite some time but I could never seem to grasp a consistency on the doneness of meats. I saw a few videos for different grilling recipes and the ChefAlarm kept popping up in them so, I bought one on sale. I will never grill or roast without this amazing tool! It does everything that you could possibly want to help bring your grilling techniques up to perfection.

Once I had seen that it was being used in restaurants around the world I had to try it.

I'm more than pleased, I'm absolutely amazed!!!

Chef Alarm
The thermometer works as advertised but I am curious why it included a pot clip as the included temperature probe is too large to fit through the holes in the clip.
