The RT801 is a great low-cost alarm thermometer. Perfect for monitoring refrigerators, freezers, coolers, chillers and all other types of cold storage systems. It's also great for aquariums, terrariums, incubators, and hundreds of other uses wherever you want to make sure an acceptable temperature range is maintained. Simply set the desired high and low alarm temperatures and position the external probe in place and you've got a monitoring system for your critical environment. Use it as a safety alarm or to notify you when a desired target temperature is reached.

  • If your alarm limits are exceeded, an audible beep-beep sounds for 5 seconds every minute. During the alarm condition a visual indicator flashes on the screen. If the temperature returns to normal, the visual and audible alarm will stop. The Max/Min function will continue to show you the highest and lowest temperatures reached so you will know that an alarm has occurred.

    Home Use

Everybody needs a couple of these at home. Track daily temperatures in the house or in the garden. Stores the high and low wherever you need it. Put one on your fridge and one on your freezer. You'll save hundreds of dollars in ruined foods. Great for aquariums and greenhouses and much more.

Wonderful invention
After loosing a freezer of meat, we wanted an alarm that would warn if another failure was occurring. We also have the added concern that our freezers and an extra side-by-side are located in the less than ideal setting of the garage in a climate that has cold winters and hot summers. We bought an alarm for both freezers and both the freezer and refrigerator units of the side-by-side. The alarms are easy to install. They are easy to read and the alarm is audible to where we can't miss hearing it. Thank you for an excellent alarm at a reasonable price.

For Backpacking and Motorcycle Touring
I bought this little gem to track minimum night time temps outside my backpacking tent. Turns out it's also great for tracking max daytime temps when I'm hiking and too busy to be checking. It's also small enough to tape to the handlebar of my motorcycle to tell me whether I'm in danger of overheating or chilling. Ambient temps can change pretty fast when ascending or descending mountains, and it's easy to get in trouble without a thermometer. The external probe reaches down out of direct sunlight to measure true ambient temps. Highly recommended for all these applications.

Refrigerator/Freezer Audible Alarm
I found the programming of this alarm to be quite difficult to set up. I had to make 3 calls to Technical Support. The instructions were confusing. Once I figured it out, I love it. I wish it could suggest the best place to put the remote probe inside the refrigerator. I have been experimenting trying to find the best location to get the most accurate reading. It is now reading just where I want it. A BARGAIN BUY for what it does. I HIGHLY recommend it, especially for freezers that are not opened daily.

Alarm could be louder
So far i am pleased with the RT801 however i think there are some areas Thermoworks could improve upon. The initial setup can be a little tricky, i highly suggest making sure you did it right before walking away and assuming it'll alert you when the freezer fails. The volume and duration of the alarm needs improvement. My freezer is in the basement and my concern is that it may not be loud enough. The wires, although very thin, still dont allow the door to seal tightly and i get a little condensation on the interior but i guess there's not much that can be done about that. Overall i'm sure it will do it's job but i hope i'm able to hear it before it's too late.

Helpful for freeze in the garage, especially on hot Las Vegas days. Thermometer beeps if temperature gets to the level set as too high, giving me a chance to adjust the coldness setting.
