Infrared thermometer
Take non-contact infrared readings from virtually any surface with Thermapen IR’s precision infrared circuitry. Simply aim the infrared end of the thermometer at the target and press the Scan button to display the surface temperature, accurate to within ±1.8°F (±1.0°C).
The Thermapen IR thermometer incorporates a Max/Min reading feature accessed through the Mode button (IR only). The distance-to-target ratio is 5:1, so the thermometer should be positioned as close to the target as possible. The default emissivity is 0.95, but can be adjusted between 0.1 and 1.0 as needed through the Mode button.
Please Note: Because the unit needs an opening to allow infrared wavelengths to fall upon the infrared sensor inside the housing, the Thermapen IR does not have the same Splash-Proof rating that other Thermapen’s have and should be kept away from splashes and spills. See more about caring for your Thermapen IR.
Penetration probe
Incorporating the Thermapen Mk4’s Super-Fast® thermocouple technology, penetration measurements come to a reading accurate to ±0.7°F (±0.4°C) within just 2-3 seconds. The probe conveniently folds back into the side of the instrument for safe storage when not in use.
Thermapen IR incorporates a motion-sensing sleep mode (penetration probe only) which automatically turns the instrument on/off when set down or picked up, maximizing battery life.
The Thermapen IR comes with a NIST-traceable calibration certificate confirming the accuracy of both sensors.
