Perfect eggs on stainless steel
"Perfect eggs on stainless steel with no sticking requires the perfect temperature!"
Is very uncomfortable to read
"Is very uncomfortable to read the temperature and it need a light"
Display not Illuminated
"I was disappointed in the fact that the display is not illuminated. It is somewhat difficult to read the temperature when not backlite. The rotation is not enough to get a straight on look at the display, even then it is somewhat dark and hard to read. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to turn the backlite on. Reading through the directions I saw no instructions on how to do that. Other than that it seems to work ok."
Slow reading
"Not the performance expected based on other products. Would love to exchange for a thermopen one"
Excellent
"PAN temperature is critical in much of my cooking. This thermometer is fast, accurate, and is more accurate than IR on stainless steel."
Works great, over priced
"The Pro-Surface Thermapen works great. It would be better if the light was brighter, it is hard to read the numbers. It is also extremely over priced."
Swing and miss
"The product works, but the issue that bothers me is that it's clearly a jury-rigged Thermapen with a surface probe attached at the end without proper design considerations. Even the corner groove that accommodates the pointy end of the regular Thermapen is present when it clearly has no function here. The round surface probe lacks a groove to accommodate it, leaving it exposed and looking awkward. They could have spent more time refining the design. This is a premium product, not something you buy for a few bucks. Additionally, considering the price, the absence of a backlight is inexcusable. We deserve better."
No Light At All
"This is very responsive, at first use, if you can read it. There is no back light, at all, and it is very hard to read unless you put your face, with your hair hanging down, almost on the hot surface you are using it for. You can , easily get burned trying to read it. I think for how expensive this is it should have a light. This isn't worth the cost as designed."
Pan Temperature Sensor works great
"Love this pan temperature sensor. I have been learning to cook eggs on stainless steel and dial in the correct temperature more precisely. With this tool I no longer need to cook eggs in a non-stick pan and the eggs cook beautifully even without using a lot of butter. Getting the temperature at the right number and then adding butter and quickly thereafter the eggs and then dropping the temperature a notch works perfectly. The temperature sensor makes it easy and no more teflon or forever chemicals in my eggs!"
Slow, no back light
"First, it shows dramatically different pan temperature as compared to Breville Control Freak. Breville Control Freak can be 90 F lower that Thermapen, even though the first measures the bottom and the last the top. Secondly, there is not enough light above my cooktop. It is OK, I can see everything except fot the thermapen reading."
