Ambient temperatures you can trust
Competitors’ built-in ambient sensors give inaccurate readings as cold meat acts as a heat sink, pulling heat from the metal probe and skewing the measurement of the ambient sensor by 75°F or more. Even if these sensors were accurate, they're placed in an evaporative cooling zone around the meat. This means your ambient sensor is not reading the accurate temperature of your cooker. Our Pro-Series® Air Probe plugs directly into RFX GATEWAY for precise placement and true ambient temperature measurements.

Multi-device management for businesses
RFX GATEWAY handles 50+ wireless RFX MEAT probes simultaneously, ideal for professional kitchens and large-scale operations. We’ve future-proofed RFX: Your gateway is also compatible with a whole suite of forthcoming ThermoWorks RFX products.

Perfect food every time!

"Love this setup! My father-in-law recommended this to me after I told him his food always comes out perfect. I bought the 2 probe deal and feel like it’s the best money I’ve spent. I love how I can look at my phone and see the temperature of the food rise without even opening the oven. You can also set the high limit temperature so it notifies you when it reaches the temperature you want. No more ruined meals by overcooking or undercooking. Definitely worth the money!"

WiFi connection method sucks

"Having to type your SSID and password manually is already a pain, but my SSID has an apostrophe from my name and it took me 2 hours to figure out the RFX is not compatible with SSIDs that have special characters. So now I have to waste my guest network and make it a more simple name which adds network interference. As far as the functionality, it’s okay so far. Honestly a clunky User Interface for such an expensive product."

Aside from being incredibly accurate,

"Aside from being incredibly accurate, I had a cook cook sideways and caught fire in the smoker. Temp soared to around 700°. Honestly, wasn't a complete disaster. But what was impressive is the probe, which had turned black, cleaned up nicely and hasn't skipped a beat since. Solid piece of equipment."

Solid hardware but the app needs work

"The probe, gateway, and temps are all well designed and function as expected and within expected tolerances. As for the app, I’ve been using the device for almost a year now, and I can saw the app has got better but a UI redesign could take to be an industry standard tool. The workflow of the app is clunky, there’s too many places that serve the same Functions for bame (gateway, gateway session, prob, prob session, etc…) and the logic needs developments there show be a functional workflow starting from meat/cook temp and down to the specifics."

Much Better than the RFX Battery Chargers

"This works great for RFX probe charging. Two issues: 1) why is it only offered in only a 10-probe charger? I only have four probes and this big brick is ridiculous. I just hate the battery chargers- they're unreliable- so I felt compelled to purchase this. This probe charger should be offered in a 4-probe and this 10-probe version. 2) There should be a USB-C output to charge the RFX receiver. I shouldn't need another charger or take up another electrical receptacle- this charger should charge my probes and the receiver with one receptacle plug. Big fail this wasn't taken into account by design team! Feel free to reach out to me before you release them so I can QC! :D"

Tooling Up! Family moments are more than just BBQ!

"Looking for the perfect family memory by serving up the best BBQ ever? I recently purchased the RFX MEAT / GATEWAY Starter Kit (with 2 probes). Quite the tool! Fresh out of the box with a gateway device to connect to my wifi, and two different temperature probes. The only setup challenge I had was finding the antenna (the wifi antenna is all black and the packaging tray is all black) in the box. Once I passed this vision test of finding the antenna, the rest the rest is easy! Having access to temperature data without having to disturb the cooking is fantastic! What a great tool to add to the BBQ arsenal. For me it seems family memories are often centered around good food - and this thermometer set is unlike anything I've owned before. I offer you my best wishes on your next future family memory!"

Very Well Thought Out Product

"I am 77 years young and not particularly device savvy so I was a little tentative in purchasing this product. I had bought a rotisserie for my Weber kettle and needed a wireless temperature probe. I was very surprised at how EASY setup was and first time using it was a great experience. I was already a big fan of ThermoWorks because of products and customer service, now I am an even bigger fan."

Lynn A. (5/5)

I haven't bought one - giving it a 4 to comment

"I thought long and hard about buying the RFX, but the lack of a temperature readout on the gateway is a deal-breaker for me. If a new model comes out with that feature, I'll likely buy one. For now, I went with a competitive product that provides a readout - first non-Thermoworks food temperature product I've bought in a decade. Hope to see a gateway display soon!"

Great idea

"I love the idea of this device. The RFX gateway setup was easy and synching with the probes. One probe was DOA. Called Thermoworks and they sent out a new one immediately. Synched with no problem. The next day the Gateway would not show as connected (went to blue light but not green). However, the probe did send the termperature correctly, so it's not clear what went wrong. Then the next day went to green. So it seems a little spotty. Also, the probe is a little long for something line a small steak (we often just eat a 4-5oz steak) which might only be a 2. 5-3 inch cube so these probes aren't useful for that. Need an alternative shorter probe. Great idea and hoping for improvements."

Gary S. (4/5)

These probes are excellent. Accurate

"These probes are excellent. Accurate measurements across multiple sample sites. Take cautions about probe immersion line seriously. Case study: one of my probes fell out of a deep-fryer turkey into the oil during the cook: this killed the probe."

Q&A

It says it has an operating temperature of 120deg F. Can you use the wired probe monitor the temp of a normal gas grill or oven? Interested in using it in the oven or for steaks on a grill that may get up to 500deg.
The operating temperature specification for RFX GATEWAY is for the physical unit itself. The included ambient probe can measure up to 572°F. Great for an oven, grill, or smoker.
I have a RFX gateway, what usb charging devise is needed to charge correctly. Mine does not seem to charge properly.
Any USB-A to USB-C cable should work. Avoid using USB-C to USB-C cables. If you still have difficulty charging your RFX GATEWAY or have additional questions, call our Utah-based support team at 800-393-6434.
