Silicon donuts

"Why don’t you get rid of the silicon donuts and have the probes identify themselves with numbers like other wireless probes."

Waste poor packing

"Did not receive matching colors in pairs. Lots of duplicates. Poor QA and shipping."

Works with my simple system

"Agreed that the probe rings turn black (I use them on the wireless RFX probes so no wire) but there is an easy workaround - one probe gets no rings, one gets one ring , third gets two rings, and so on. Colors not important then. The RFX app lets me show up to three rings per probe so I can easily handle four probes (0,1,2,3 rings). If you need more (!) you can add a second group of rings, I suppose."

Silicon bands

"great idea, but put them in a smoker and they all turn the same color."

Jeff S. (2/5)

Sorry, turn black too fast in a smoker to be useful.

"I agree with others that these seem like a great idea, but they quickly all turn the same shade of black-brown in a smoker. I have had no luck washing the stains off with any of our usual detergents. The only thing I can think of to avoid this is to slide the probe-end ring up the cable until it is outside of the smoker after placing your meat on the grates. This, however, would partially defeat the point of having them."

Sure they go dark in smokers, but there's a "work around. "

"There's a ""work-around"" for the issue of the probes on the ""working end. "" Yes, when used in a smoker, the probes in the smoker turn irretrievably dark and indistinguishable. (I've been told that there's a chemical reaction between the silicone and the smoke. )If you use two sets of probes, you can use the colors to differentiate the plug ends and the number of rings to differentiate the probe end. (It doesn't matter what colors go on the probe end, as they'll all go charcoal grey anyway. )For example, on my Signals, I need to differentiate between four probes, one for the grill temp and three for food temps. So, I set them up like this. Probe # of Rings on Plug End # of Rings on Probe EndGrill temp. One red None (probe is different shape, so doesn't need one)Food temp # 1 One blue OneFood temp #2 Two yellow TwoFood temp #3 Three green Three"

Okay, stain easily and permanently

"They work well when they do and they can take the heat. But, they cannot last in a smoker. The smoke builds up on them gradually to the point that they all just turn black. I haven't found a cleaner that has been able to remove the soot from them, and don't want to try any super harsh solvents since it may damage the silicone. They can work well in the home oven though or if you are not cooking with smoke."

Ricardo C. (3/5)

Great the first few times you use them but. . .

"After six or so uses the color is undisguisable due to the absorption of smoke. These were cleaned with Dawn but that really didn't work. I guess this is a smoke ring I'd rather not have."
