Measure the temperature of griddles, cooktops, hotplates, and other surfaces with higher accuracy than an infrared thermometer with our new Pro-Surface Thermapen. There are no emissivity adjustments to make or infrared distance measurements to calculate. Simply open the probe and measure.

Unlike separate probe and meter combinations, the Pro-Surface Thermapen is calibrated "as a system" for better accuracy. With the same swivel tip as our popular bell surface probe, you'll get solid contact with the measurement surface.

The Pro-Surface Thermapen reaches temperatures to 572°F and includes a NIST-Traceable calibration certificate. Each one is hand made and calibrated in England and made with a high performance type K thermocouple for top precision.

Designed for industrial use, the Thermapen body is splash-resistant. No buttons to press or learn. Swing open the probe and the Thermapen is on. No cables or plugs to wear out. The probe folds away for protection when not in use eliminating costly replacement probe purchases. For high temperature use order a protective silicone rubber boot for added thermal and drop protection.

Customize your Thermapen with micro configuration switches in the battery compartment. Switch from °F to °C, disable the auto-off, change resolution from 0.1 to 1, or perform a calibration trim.

Surface Probe Tip
The Pro-Surface Thermapen uses the same tip as the popular bell surface probe. The tip of the probe pivots so the flat base of the sensor maintains solid contact with the surface being measured. The unit can tilt slightly at the base of the probe shaft so the display can easily be read.

What is Biomaster?
Biomaster is a silver-based antimicrobial additive that is molded directly into the plastic housing that becomes an integral part of the product to prevent bacteria growth on its surface. The controlled release of the active ingredient provides maximum antimicrobial protection for the life of the product. When bacteria come into contact with a Biomaster protected surface, the silver ions prevent them from growing, producing energy or replicating, therefore they die, inhibiting degradation, discoloration or odors. "I purchased the Pro-Surface Thermapen for a stainless steel griddle. While I don't have a means of verifying that temps are accurate, it seems to work for my needs. However, this is an overpriced temp gauge with a very dim LCD screen. For the price, the screen should be lit. "I have an IR thermometer gun. Metals like stainless throw it off due to mirror like reflectivity. This works on contact every time on every material. It works fast & has Thermoworks famous accuracy. My only complaint is my kitchen's lighting makes it hard to read without a 🔦."

I'm definitely disappointed with the

"I'm definitely disappointed with the Pro-Surface Thermapen. It's slow to reacting to surface temperature. It take 5-10 seconds to get an accurate surface temperature. It's has no back light for the screen which makes it difficult to read. The screen must be viewed near straight on, as the screen distorts and darkens when viewed at any angle other then straight on. This means you have to lean down to view the screen when in use. It's definitely over-over priced. There are better alternatives. Thermoworks has some great products, but the Pro-Surface Thermapen is mediocre at best. I do not recommend."

Display not Illuminated

"I was disappointed in the fact that the display is not illuminated. It is somewhat difficult to read the temperature when not backlite. The rotation is not enough to get a straight on look at the display, even then it is somewhat dark and hard to read. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to turn the backlite on. Reading through the directions I saw no instructions on how to do that. Other than that it seems to work ok."
