A little added control

"I really can't say if it is necessary but it make it easy to shut off the flame. You could always snap the supplied cap back on but it takes two hands and it's in a low position. I'm old and it's not a position I like to be in."

The damper seems mandatory for

"The damper seems mandatory for billows on a BGE. Without the damper I could not hold temperature. The billows would overshoot and oscillate 50 deg. With the damper billows held +/- 1-2 deg. Great product but it would be best to include it with Kamodo mounting kit or at least strongly recommend it for Kamodo grills. I had to order it separately and shipping g was more than the damper"
