"Try testing 4 loaves inside an oven without removing them. I did and then I bought this thermometer. Its rapid response made temping my dishes a lot easier. I am no longer standing in front of a volcano vent trying to take the temp on several sourdough loaves. It takes a fraction of the time now."

Broke within a week

"I only managed to use this twice before suddenly it showed an “Err” message on the screen. Now it’s unusable. I was very careful to not get it wet, drop it, or let it get damaged in any other way. It was great while it worked but very disappointing it didn’t last more than 2 use, especially for such an expensive product."

Fast…. BUT temperature reading may not be immediately stable.

"I am very impressed with this thermometer given that it’s the best on the market, but it isn’t too much faster than my old Mk4 ‘2-3’ sec thermometer and the ‘ONE’ doesn’t lock in a temperature reading after just one second. It may fluctuate for 1-3 secs before displaying a final temperature. For this reason, I’m giving it 4-stars."

It’s my standard

"I love and trust my Thermapen ONE from ThermoWorks. In boiling water it takes about 4 seconds to read 212°F, so it isn’t always a 1-second read, but it’s darned close at 1 second. I use it for all of my cooking that needs an accurate thermometer. I also like the new display features like 360° rotation to read at any angle, and the backlight for those nighttime barbecues. I’ve bough a few as gifts for my friends who are young rising cooks/chefs. It makes a great gift."

Loved it till it broke

"Best kitchen thermometer I've ever used, and I would love to give this a good review, because when it worked it was amazing. However, the first time I needed to change the battery, the housing inside of the back plate that holds the screw CRUMBLED when I went to unscrew it, making this thing no longer water tight and there is no way to screw in the back plate anymore. Super unfortunate, and a huge disappointment."

I have a red Thermapen One and while replacing the battery today the screw broke out of the cover. Is it possible to get a replacement cover?

When the MK4 probe is left open and not folded, does it drain the battery?
Not significantly. Thermapen Mk4 and Thermapen ONE both have auto-off as well as auto-on when the device is picked up again.
